"As a master's student, I needed something to help me reach my goals of finishing academically strong, completing research and volunteerism, but also identify what was important to me in improving myself. The Self Journal was amazing at being able to simplify large goals into day to day accomplishments, helping me check off most of my goals. Best Self Journal

I've used the journal before and keep coming back to it. I like the format and it's easy to use to organize my life. I do wish there was a faculty-member version so I could organize like the student planner.

I am new to this but already in love

I've made adjustments to the system, such as setting mastery rather than performance goals, & emphasizing my personal & spiritual life over work success. Too, sometimes I use a file label to cover up the quote of the day & put in one of my own choosing. Lessons Learned in my book are not only for self-improvement but also for newly acquired wisdom. Ditto for "Wins"--sometimes those are kind or charitable acts. I've nicknamed it my Be Best Journal (tm) so I don't get to taking myself too seriously here.

Otherwise, I'm using it exactly according to the directions because for the most part the system holds to basic psychological principles that work--& I need directions. It is making all the difference in the world. For one thing, I can see where all my time was going & why it always felt like I was never getting anything done. My pages are color-coded for work, spiritual, self-care, household responsibilities, & so forth so that I can see at a glance if I'm keeping a balanced lifestyle.

I come to this with decades of experience with at least 4 other major systems of organization/information management & this beats them all hands down.

I have made gratitude lists for over 35 years but never 3 in the morning & 3 in the evening like this, & I find it really makes a difference in how you set out on your day as well as how you end it.

The 13-week span is a perfect "middle way" between scattered dozens of short-term ToDos & grandiose resolutions that one never keeps. The weekly progress checks & tracking circles at the bottom of the week's page are marvelous for keeping you moving forward.

I just love the feel of the book, the quality of the paper (I'm a paper, book person, lol!) & I'm so taken with the whole system that I'm recommending it to students this fall. The only complaint I have about the whole thing is the two thin ribbons, which promptly frayed. When you get your book, seal those immediately ...
